This is the second time the Indianapolis-based company’s crowdfunding campaign has brought in more than 1 million. Arrive, a drone delivery mailbox manufacturer formerly known as Dronedek, says it has raised more than 1.3 million from 428 investors. It is also feasible to link several EVO Nest systems together and have many drones execute a job at the same time. Indy drone mailbox company uses crowdfunding to raise 1.3M. During a mission, the flight route and camera angle, among other things, may be modified remotely in real-time through a 4G or 5G connection. The topic to be examined is automatically recognized whenever a drone receives its mission. Autonomous take-offs, inspections, and precise landings may all be tailored to industrial requirements. The EVO Nest Automatic Flying System has an open API interface, which means that the drone's flight characteristics may be changed depending on its surroundings. The EVO Nest Automatic Flight System is made up of the EVO Nest, an EVO II series drone, a cloud-based service, and Sk圜ommand Center software. SEAQUE’s pioneering design will also use a bright laser to repeatedly heal damage resulting from radiation exposure in between rounds of detecting photons generated from the entanglement source. Serving as a continuation of the Cool Annealing Payload Satellite (CAPSat) project that intended to perform in-orbit measurements and annealing of silicon single-photon detectors, SEAQUE is the first ever space-based quantum experiment that integrates a source of entangled photon pairs using an optical waveguide crystal, which offers a higher photon pair production efficiency than regular bulk crystals. The work is a partnership of the Quantum Photonics Lab (QPL) with Excelitas Inc. The Waterloo project is headed by faculty member Thomas Jennewein at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) and Department of Physics and Astronomy, and is led by research associate Joanna Krynski. Waterloo’s SPODECT module is unique in that it will include four single-photon detectors, multi-channel coincidence detection as well as a microcontroller for operation and photon counting, all in a very compact format. Quantum Information Science and TechnologyĪ single-photon detector and counting module (SPODECT) recently built by Waterloo’s Quantum Photonics Lab for the International Space Station (ISS) will be used to verify quantum entanglement and test its survivability in space as part of the Space Entanglement and Annealing QUantum Experiment (SEAQUE) mission, in a collaboration with researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, ADVR Inc, and the National University of Singapore MSc Physics – Quantum Technology specialization (course-based) Statement in support of protecting Canadian science and researchers More importantly, it’s made one owner of the other “turbocharged compact crossover” salivate with envy. It’s garnered enough inquisitive looks from motorists, passersby, and gasoline station attendants. It’s as chiseled as Ben Affleck’s Batman chin. It’s modern, sleek, and filled with all the correct angles and none of the curves. There’s not a single weak point to the Escape’s sheet metal. Nice like a spaceship landed on the roads, nice. Still, you’ve got to hand it over to the Ford guys. It’s certainly come a long way, but it’s still not the super-uber best one out there. The question now beckons: is the Ford Escape the best compact crossover out there. Whoever said that this genre was cornered by the Japanese makes didn’t tell Ford. It’s what you needed, you just don’t know it yet. It’s what the compact crossover segment needed. With the exception of MyFord Touch (MFT), everything else is what Ford needed. We give you SYNC with MyFord Touch powered by Microsoft™.” It wiped out all traces of its ancient ancestor and felt like a blessing, a mana from the gods (who happened to look and sound like Alan Mulally) who said: “You’ve suffered long enough from carbon dated products. (If you want to read the review on the Escape 1.6 SE EcoBoost, click here).Īnd then, like a meteorite from the heavens, boom: the all-new Ford Escape is here. Alas, it almost fell victim to fossilization after a model run lasting a good 12 years (2000-2012) despite three facelifts. Locally, it brought the Blue Oval brand from niche to mainstream player almost overnight. One of the biggest hits is the Ford Escape. Americans, who were mostly busy making rolling versions of the Stegosaurus, soon got into the game. After all, going up mall ramps diagonally is uncool. Given their propensity to favor small cars, putting height (but not necessarily four-wheel drive) seemed perfect for the urban environment. The compact crossover genre was popularized by the Japanese. I lowered the temp to 320F and kept them in longer, but nothing was helping. Within minutes of going in the oven, they puffed up nicely and were even bouncing and lifting in the mould as if trying to get out… However, I could not for the life of me get them to firm up!Īfter 20-30 minutes I checked them only to find they were still super, super soft and smeared/collapsed at my touch - after 30-40 minutes the ones on the edges were burning on top but the mix inside the mould was still soft. I spread the mix into moulds (dome/pyramid pan) and baked at 350F well for over 30 minutes… It was all very straightforward (for my second ever baking attempt) and was all going to plan…. Other ingredients were ground chicken, broccoli, dill and green tea (in place of plain water) and blended to a puree, then coconut oil, sifted coconut flour and the flax egg (or two) folded into the mix (with more water/tea added as needed). I gave this recipe a try recently – I used it to replace egg in some homemade dog training treats I was making with silicone moulds as I wanted to include some flax into my dog’s diet. PETA offers vegan dessert recipes for Valentine's Day on its website at peta.Hi there! :) Thank you for sharing this!! A Pawtucket bakery has made a national best-of list from PETA. Growing up, Toht joined the ranks of the Gestapo, with Ilsa soon following his footsteps into serving the Third Reich. As fate would have it, Temple of Doom and Gremlins were intense enough to spark a backlash that prompted the MPAA to implement the PG-13 rating.Major Arnold Ernst Toht had at least one sibling, a sister named Ilsa. And of course, there was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom with its infamous example of human sacrifice, as well as the Spielberg-produced Gremlins with its comedic yet graphic violence. Malevolent spirits terrorizing a family, a homicidal tree attempting to devour a child, a swimming pool full of real skeletons, and the gruesome depiction of a man tearing his own face to bloody shreds are just some of the terrors the PG film foisted on audiences. Co-written and produced by Spielberg, Poltergeist also notoriously provided plenty of nightmare fodder with its house of horrors. Look no further than Jaws, which featured, among other things, multiple severed limbs and mangled bodies, a fountain of gore as a little boy is attacked by a shark, and a main character spitting up blood before meeting his ultimate demise. But working in an era in which the PG-13 rating was non-existent, Spielberg often pushed the boundaries of what the broadly encompassing PG rating could deliver to audiences, often to the shock and horror of unsuspecting viewers. Seamlessly blending action, wonder, suspense, and comedy all into one film is no easy feat, and the wunderkind from Arizona did it on the regular with those he directed, produced, and co-wrote. By placing the miniatures in a water tank, manipulating their movements, and photographing them against a black backdrop, they appeared to float and fly gracefully.Īs the reigning king of the blockbuster through the 1970s and '80s, Steven Spielberg had an uncanny knack for crafting thrills, chills, and awe-inspiring spectacles. In achieving the effect of the mysterious creatures that emerge from the Ark, a combination of real-life models and miniatures were used. And with Spielberg's precise direction, the actors flailed their bodies on set to further sell the effect of being struck. To create the illusion of Nazi soldiers being blown away by the Ark's contents, small lights were fastened to the actors for use as a reference for the beams that would eventually be composited into the shots. Shooting on a large soundstage at London's Pinewood Studios, and working with meticulously-crafted storyboards, Spielberg and his team used a combination of practical effects, optical effects, and miniature models. While some of the effects in Raiders' climax may seem dated depending on who you ask, a variety of tricks and techniques were employed by the wizards at Industrial Light and Magic to pull off the sequence. Though it pains me to admit it, there may have even been a nightlight involved and the words "the power of God" took on a new meaning for me. After picking my jaw up off the floor and finishing the film, I knew I had a restless night of sleep ahead of me, and probably many more in the ensuing weeks or even months. With their eyes clamped shut, Indy and Marion miraculously survived as whatever it was that came out of that Ark was sucked back in, taking along the horde of bodies it had just eviscerated. And then came the showstopper as Colonel Dietrich's ( Wolf Kahler) head shriveled into a gooey mess, Toht's face literally melted down to the bone, and Belloq's head exploded into a million pieces. Williams' score shrieked as Toht screamed in panic, and the mist emitting from the Ark began firing what looked like beams of fire into the crowd of onlooking Nazis, violently bursting through their chests and faces. In the blink of an eye, the scene turned grim and gory as the ethereal angelic faces transformed into, well, monsters. Indy warned Marion ( Karen Allen), "Shut your eyes and don't look at it no matter what happens." The Nazis' equipment malfunctioned, a low rumbling sound growled from the Ark, and thick mist began spilling out of it, engulfing the nearby troops and materializing into angelic-looking figures. But then strange things started happening. The Ark's lid came off and, to Belloq's ( Paul Freeman) disappointment and Nazi Officer Toht's ( Ronald Lacey) giggling glee, contained only sand. As Raiders' finale kicked off, my anticipation rose further courtesy of the scene's sinister and stormy backdrop, John Williams' eerie score, and the look of fear on Indy's ( Harrison Ford) typically brave and stoic face. Hearing those four unforgettable words, I was equally curious and anxious, although I didn't know exactly who "they" were. "They turn into monsters," my dad ominously told me.
